Yesterday was probably the longest day in my life. At 9 in the morning, I played the role of a godmother to our good friend's son Enzo Joaquim. The ceremony was held at the San Agustin Church in Intramuros and the luncheon at Gerry's in BlueWave, Macapagal Ave. You can just imagine how early we had to leave from our place in Cainta just to get there on time. It was a very pleasant reunion between Stelz aka Blusum and me aka Baters. For all those who doesn't know, we are actually 3 girls who got really close in 4th grade then led separate lives and joined different cliques in high school and college, and bonded again in 2001. We belong to a bigger barkada now that we're out of school but we chose to call ourselves the Powerpuffies. Since then, we make sure to be at each other's special events like weddings, birthdays, and christening. We missed Ems aka Babuls/Babs (my blog mentor and another blog addict!) in the affair as she and her family has migrated to Virginia, US late last year and can't just go home right away. We really wish you were, Babs! See you December 23rd, lol! It was a morning of fun, food and stories. The Petraches (Norman, Stelz and Enzo) will be leaving for Singapore on Monday, after a week of vacationing in the country. More photos here.
After lunch, Arthuz asked if we could drop by at Boom na Boom to watch an airsoft game. His airsoft buddies are there and so since we're in the vicinity already, he thought of dropping by. Realizing how hard it was for him to wake up so early in the morning just so we could make it in church, I happily obliged. So off we went to this gamesite just behind boom ba boom. I saw old, familiar faces there. Arthuz and his buddies chatted a bit while I took photos of the site. Separate entry about Arthuz and his airsoft here.
Then, we dropped by at the Malate Church to pay our last respects to the father of one of associate slash favorite people slash friend, Steve. From the festive and happy mood in the morning, Arthuz and I felt sad for Ice (Steve's nickname). It was a sudden death and the dad was so young at 55. He had grand dreams for his family, as Ice has mentioned. And he loved his wife so much. I pray that his soul is now resting in peace. And I pray for Ice to be strong for his mother and his family. On our way back, Arthuz decided that we spend the rest of the day in the mall. February 14 (yikes!) is just around the corner and even if we're one couple who doesnt really observe this celebration, he was super sweet enough to offer to shop for me today as his pre-valentines gift. How lucky luck lucky! I asked him to bring me to Trinoma for our pre-valentines date slash shopping day (double yikes!). While there, I shopped till I almost dropped (almost lang ha!). Got me 2 tops and a coat from Zara, red pants from Ensemble and a book from Powerbooks. I wanted to get me another pair of shoes but that's the only thing that he asked me before hitting the mall: Please mama, no buying of shoes this time. (I'll blog about this soon) We also bought clothes for the little girl and a housewarming gift for Shine and Carlos. To top it all, he surprised me with a full bod mirror for the bathroom. Haylavet!! And for himself? He got a keychain and Jessica Zafra's Twisted 7.
Where can you find a husband who, at the wife's request, takes off from the business, to drive you all over the metro in rush hour traffic to attend events only the wife is excited about. And at the end of the day, brings the wife to the mall, lets her shop til she drops like he's grateful for letting him tag along the whole day?
HERE. MINE.
