travelling

If it pushes through, Lizzie might be in the US to spend the summer with my folks. And as I was chatting with my dad on the phone, one of the plans is to check out new york vacations aside from the usual disneyland trip that they have long planned for her. I am more excited for my daughter since she is set to explore new places and meet new friends. I will surely miss her but the two months will equip her with knowledge that she can bring to school next year.

The Tooth Fairy

My husband has been complaining about his molar tooth. It has been causing him painful and sleepless nights lately. We have been to a dentist friend who was kind enough to give us dental discounts but I guess, the problem does not lie with the rate of the service but the intensity of pain that he is going to feel once the procedure starts. We are scheduled to go back in a month's time and hopefully by then, he is more than ready to be under the dental knife. It can get really scary sometimes.

mini cooper, mini van, mini me...

If soda is the new tobacco, is the Coke mini can the new light cigarette?

The can, which will debut in December, holds 7.5 ounces of liquid, less than two-thirds of a 12-ounce container. Instead of the usual "Coca-Cola" script, it's stamped with the loud promise, "90 calories per can."

"The Coca-Cola mini can innovation reinforces the Company's support for healthy, active lifestyles," says the president of Coca-Cola North America in a press release. The president of Sparkling Beverages, Coca-Cola North America, chimes in: "Our new sleek mini can supports the idea of moderation and offers people yet another way to enjoy their favorite Coca-Cola beverage." The company's chief scientific officer adds that "this 90-calorie mini can is another way for people who love Coca-Cola to get the taste they enjoy while managing their calories."

crimson sunset

I have always been very fond of sunsets. As a matter of fact, one of my usernames in an online account is crisonsunset. I love the nostalgia that it brings me. Spending time lazing along the sands of the beach with a good book and a good friend while watching the sun sets is trully something that I always look forward to doing. It brings me to another place, another time that tasks like researching on free insurance quotes usually takes a back seat. Who wouldn't want to experience this kind of feeling? You tell me.

nostalgic about moving out

For a month now, we have been going around looking for a place to transfer to. The typhoon that hit our area gave us a solid reason to vacate our home for 5 years and search for a safer one for our growing family. It was a long, tough process. I could not imagine that it takes a lot of time, energy and effort to look for a place to stay. Fortunately, we found one near my daughter's school so that's an added bonus to us.We have inquired to a number of apartments for rent nearby but nothing caught my attention so it had to wait.

We are moving in to the new place first week of November. And we are hoping that just like the house that became a home to us for five years, the new place will be the same. Maybe even more.

dream holiday

A childhood friend and I caught up online and discussed so many things under the sun. Didn't realize that we were chatting for some 4 hours already until I got a phone call from my husband asking what was for dinner. Bummer! Hahaha!

Anyway, one of the topics that we have talked about was where to go on holidays. She mentioned something about these
Outer Banks vacation homes that she's been to and she can't stop raving about its grandeur and beauty. We promised each other that if I get the chance to go to the US in the near future, she will bring me there and we will surely have a grand time!

Fill in the word that would best suit you. It can be more photos, more fun to some. Or more boys, more fun to none.

This is my new blog. My food blog. You can visit me here: food and everything else in between. You can also add me up in your blogrolls and links.

it's a boy!

Ecstatic. That's how we all are after hearing the very good news that we are finally having a boy!!! The doctor's words were music to our ears that I didn't notice, I was already crying because of utmost joy and contentment - she was saying "his organs are complete, here's the face -- look! he's pointing at his face!, here's the mouth, nose, eyes... complete set of fingers etc etc..." It was so beautiful hearing everything that she was saying. I was so caught up in that escstatic stage that I almost forgot about the kitchen tile that needs replacement. Got to find one soon!

TTDs for tonight

Reposting from Chuvaness' blog once again. Here's what we need to do tonight:

We just got this message here at work. Most of us were briefed and already being asked to prepare. Here's the summary:
1) Typhoon Pepeng is classified as Type 5 hurricane (same as Katrina).
2) Critical hour is 9 PM so please go home and prepare.
3) The winds and rain will be stronger than Milenyo.
4) Metro Manila will be hit by either tail or body pa rin (let's hope for tail).
5) 9 PM we will know if it's heads or tails (my words)
6) Charge phones and electronic just in case.
7) Flashlight, rope, food, medicine and prayers are the best options.
Please pass this message along.

Stay safe and dry everyone! And pray...

Ondoy's wrath

After Ondoy's wrath, I think I lost a lot of weight considering the level of stress and tension that wrapped my entire being this past week. It has been a nightmare for me that my husband jokes to me now "Mom, I guess you don't need any weight loss diet anymore". Not that I need it and not that I should do it especially now that I am 5 months on the way. But considering the number of calories that I was able to shed off in a few days, I really think any diet is still vital at this point. What do you reckon?

Let's do it!

I am reposting this from Chuvaness' blog. To say that we are all so stressed, scared and weary about the typhoon that's about to hit us once again is an understatement. For now, please join me in praying because I guess, that's the only left thing to do right now...

Legazpi bishop asks Filipinos to say powerful prayer
By Joanna Los Baños
Inquirer Southern Luzon

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines—-As typhoon “Pepeng” intensified and moved toward Northern Luzon, an auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Legazpi encouraged Filipinos to pray the “Oratio Imperata for Deliverance From Calamities,” which he said was a powerful prayer that spared Albay from disaster after Supertyphoon “Reming” struck almost three years ago.

The prayer has been recited since October 2007 in all the churches in the archdiocese during Mass.

“Many have already asked for a copy of the prayer and it has already reached the United States,” Auxiliary Bishop Lucilo Quiambao said.

He asked that the prayer be recited in the parishes, homes and communities.

Albay has not been affected by major typhoons and calamities for the past three years and the bishop believed one reason the power of prayers.

In November 2007, authorities predicted that the province would be hit by typhoon “Mina.” However, it changed direction and most Albayanos were convinced it was a “miracle.”

The bishop also appealed to Bicolanos to help the victims of typhoon “Ondoy.”

In a circular, Quiambao said schools and communities may bring their donations to the Social Action Center in the city or to the Annual Diocesan Marian Youth Pilgrimage Rally in Barangay Baño on Saturday (Oct. 3).

“We have been recipients of so much generosity and love from people all over the world after typhoons Milenyo and Reming devastated our place, it is but proper and fitting that we return the favor now that we are given the opportunity to heed Christ's teaching to help our neighbors in need,” Quiambao said.

The Oratio:

“Almighty Father, we raise our hearts to You in gratitude for the wonders of creation of which we are part, for Your providence in sustaining us in our needs, and for Your wisdom that guides the course of the universe.

“We acknowledge our sins against You and the rest of creation.

“We have not been good stewards of Nature.

“We have confused Your command to subdue the earth.

“The environment is made to suffer our wrongdoing, and now we reap the harvest of our abuse and indifference.

“Global warming is upon us. Typhoons, floods, volcanic eruption, and other natural calamities occur in increasing number and intensity.

“We turn to You, our loving Father, and beg forgiveness for our sins.

“We ask that we, our loved ones and our hard earned possessions be spared from the threat of calamities, natural and man-made.

“We beseech You to inspire us all to grow into responsible stewards of Your creation, and generous neighbors to those in need.

“Amen.”
